Adventures of the last week- Zombies and Tudors

10 Jul

The past few weeks have been a haze of work, work and work! The end of term is near so there has been final assessments, reports, open evenings etc to organise and sort. However there have been two lovely things to happen in the past week (one school related and one zombie related) and I just wanted to share some pictures.

This week we went to Kentwell Hall as part of our topic on the Tudors. I had never been before but heard many good things and have to say it was a fantastic day! It was long and tiring for the kids (and me!) but we got so much out of it. They really immerse you in the life of the Tudors in 1553.

The Hall itself was beautiful, even more so on the sunny day we experienced.

Peacocks just strolling around. (Do peacocks stroll?)

Even on a school trip I found some needlecraft to enjoy!

I love this picture of the kids walking through the gardens!

All in all a wonderful day and a highly recommended place to visit.

My other exciting event was the Zombie Secluded Tea Party hosted by the incredibly lovely Miss Sue Flay from The Secluded Tea Party. Read her brilliant blog for more information about the Tea Parties she hosts. I have always had a thing for zombies and also have been wanting to go to one of her tea parties for ages so when this one came up it was only a few moments before I was expressing my interest! The lovely Mr BakingTeacher came with me and we had a super night. Miss Sue Flay created a fantastic evening from start to finish. Let’s just say I can still hear the sound of the chainsaw days later…

Myself and Mr BT had equipped ourselves with a rounders bat but others had created the most amazing zombie costumes that put us to shame!

We also met Sean T Page a ‘dedicated zombie survivalist and blogger’ who was wonderful to chat to. He also held a zombie related quiz and we purchased a sign copy of his book in order to help us be prepared for any zombie related incidents in the future! We were also treated to a film, tea and cakes by Miss Sue Flay…

..and yes you should be jealous. They were lovely. And looked fabulous!

I never thought I’d read anything that had Tudors and Zombies in the same piece of writing! It sounds like you’ve had great fun on two completely different occasions though. Love all the pictures…and yes I am jealous of the cakes – they look divine!

Zombie Tudors would be just brilliant! I’ve heard great things about Kentwell, and you had a nice day for it.
